Workshop House António Carneiro (Casa-Oficina António Caneiro) ­Rua António Cardoso 363 4150 Oporto. Closes Mondays and Public Holidays. António Carneiro is one of Oporto painters. He lived between 1872 and 1930. A large part of his work was developed in this space transformed now into a museum. It was here that the painter had his workshop and now all his work can be seen, with special attention given to oil, chalk and pencil drawings.

 

 

Romantic Museum (Museu Romântico) Rua de Entre Quintas 220. Closes Mondays and Public Holidays. Behind the Crystal Palaces´ (Palácio de Cristal) gardens you can see the Quinta da Macieirinha, with the old house of the Pinto Basto family marking the romantic style of the 1800s. It is a singular museum, because it tries to substitute a bourgeoisie house of the XIX Century. It is a house with very particular memories, because once stayed in it the King Piemonte and of Sardenha. The monarch stayed there 2 months during his exile.

 

 

Soares do Reis National Museum (Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis)- Rua de D.- Manuel II. Closes Mondays and public holidays. After many years of construction work, the museum entered the cultural circuit of Oporto, with temporary expositions and a permanent exposition. The space available for expositions is very pleasant and rational, allowing a new perspective. The Museum is know for its temporary expositions but also for its collections on decorative arts.

 

 

Foundation Engenheiro António de Almeida Museum (Museu da Fundação Engenheiro António de Almeida)- Rua Tenente Valadim 325. Opening times- 14:30-17:30, Monday to Saturday. The Engenheiro António de Almeida was born in 1891 and died 1968. In his will he created a foundation, with his name, with artistic, educational and goodwill purposes. The museum is installed in the house of the founder. There you can find various kinds of furniture, jewelry, textiles and paintings and innumerous coins.

 

  

Fiduciary Paper Museum (Museu do Papel Fiduciário)- Fundação Cupertino de Miranda, Avenida da Boavista 4245. Closes Sundays and Mondays. This Museum is unique in Europe. It tells the story of the paper-money in Portugal, since it appeared in 1796, going on to the emission of money bills by the Bank of Lisbon and Bank of Portugal. You can see rare and unique examples. It is the first museum to have a database available to the public.

 

Tram Museum (Museu do Carro Eléctrico)- Alameda Basílio Teles. Closes Mondays. Installed in the old Massarelos Central of Public Transports of Oporto. It presents a collection of trams that circulated in Oporto since 1895.

 

Sé Treasure (Tesouro da Sé)- Closes on Sundays. Installed in the Cabido House (Casa do Cabido), it is a space where you can see the cathedral treasures. Many pieces exposed in the 3 floors express the memories of the Sé. The treasure is located in the middle floor. There are four floors that form a forte.
