Oporto Customs (Alfândega do Porto) is a long building with 268 meters of front, built on top of an artificial platform that substitutes the old pier of Miragaia, in the place where the River Frio flows into the Douro. Its construction began in 1859 and only finished in the 1870s. The building ceased to be used for its original purposes and has been used for several cultural events.

Municipal Public Library (Biblioteca Pública Municipal)- in the D. João IV Street, near the Poveiros Square and the São Lázaro Garden. It is the Santo Antonio Convent of the city. It began to be built in 1783. On the ground floor used to work the Fine Arts School of Oporto (Escola de Belas Artes do Porto), created in 1836, and it was there that the National Museum Soares dos Reis (Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis ) was founded. It began to work as a library in 1842. In the main entrance there still remains glazed tiles of the XV and XVII Century.

Magestic Café (Café Magestic) in Santa Catarina Street number 112. It used to be The Elite Cfé (Café Elite) and is one of the few Nouveau Art references of Oporto. Recently restored, it maintains its original look.

Town House (Câmara Municipal)- This build is very similar to palaces of the north of France and Flanders. It has in the center a tower with 70 meters and a chime watch. On top of the watch there is a neo-classic architectural composition. This work was promoted by the first republican town-council and dominated the Aliados Avenue (Avenida dos Aliados).

The Souls Chapel (Capela das Almas)- built in the beginning of the XVIII Century, the exterior was covered in glazed tiles in 1929. It is those big panels that turned the chapel into a reference, as they represent steps of the life of São Fransisco de Assis and Santa Catarina. It is situated in the corner of Santa Catarina and Fernandes Tomás.

Arts House (Casa das Artes)- it is the most publicized building of Eduardo Souto Moura. The project dates to 1980, but was only concluded in 1991. Won the Secil Award and marks one of the trends of the architect for the construction of aparently "blind" walls. From the garden´s side the building is in rock, but opens to the city, north, with a front of glass that brings luminosity to the interior spaces.

Infante House (Casa do Infante)- it is installed in the descent of the Ferreira Borges Market (Mercado Ferreira Borges) to the Ribeira, in the Infante D. Henrique Street (Rua do Infante D. Henrique) number 47 to 53. The front no longer corresponds to the medieval building of the old Customs House, created by D. Afonso IV. The interior was remodeled in 1967, the year of the V Centenary of the death of Infante D. Henrique, that, following a few theories, was born in a house that existed there.

Mourisca House (Casa Mourisca)- it is the big surprise of the José Falcão Street (Rua José Falcão) number 91. The project is from the master Teixeira Lopes. The exterior is covered in glazed tiles with forms and dimensions different from the usual. With geometric designs and with relief, neo-arabian style, the predominant colours are the light and dark browns.

Guerra Junqueiro Museum House (Casa Museu Guerra Junqueiro)- was projected by Nicolau Nasoni. Built in the XVIII Century, it has two angular towers that dominate it, to remember the Portuguese houses of the XV Century. There lies the valuable art collection organized by Guerra Junqueiro during his life. It is located behind the Sé, in the D. Hugo Street (Rua de D. Hugo).

Serralves House (Casa de Serralves)- occupied by the homonymous foundation, it is one of the main "cultural producers" of the city. The building, gardens and farm occupy a large area, between Boavista Avenue (Avenida da Boavista) and Foz. It was built with the requisites of the Vizela Count, in the 30s, the final project is of the architect Marques da Silva, although in the conception faze there was collaboration of the Architect Sicilis, Gerber and the Brandt decorators and Lalique. The Serralves House is built in an area that has a residential house of the 1930s, gardens and a farms, in a total of 18 hectars.

This property was purchased in 1986 by the Portuguese State, that in 1989 created the Foundation. Since 1994 many have been the private entities that have joined the Serralves project. The immovable patrimony of Serralves was classified in 1996 as a "Immovable of Public Interest". The Serralves Foundation (Findação de Serralves)
